If anyone's going to step up to give other people an opportunity to present their cases and I'm glad and I'm glad I showed up. I'm glad I stuck around. It's wonderful. I love it. I love it. Yeah that's great to hear. Okay. So the mayoral race for Toronto it's crowded. There's a couple of top contenders right now. How are you feeling about the race and while you're campaign. Ing? What are you hearing? Well let me take the perspective of I have a different perspective on what they're doing. So for example one of the things. I told my constituents that really pushed me was I want a freeze property taxes for my first two years in office. I want to. Know where the money is going because we just don't know. It's too big. That means I need more police officers on the street and more police officers and TTC vehicles. And while I'm on the topic. No more ion battery bicycles anywhere on TPG TGC property we just can't do it. We got it. We have to start going back to basics. And being very simple about what we're doing. We're over complicating things. I don't want to start running my own supermarket. Okay. That's not my job as the mayor. But if there's a council member who wants to do in CTV's US political analyst Eric Hamm now with more. Eric I want to begin with that. Point that Trump we got a lot to discuss. But that point that Trump made. About the war ending with Iran after the midterms and really emphasizing that his name was not on the. Ballot. Why did he do that? I think and I we talked about this yesterday that the president would deliver a speech and we have seen him do this every time he has spoken at the UN General Assem. Bly where he oftentimes simply conflates an international audience with a very local audience. And he conflates domestic politics with geopolitics. And I think that is what's playing out here. And unfortunately we. Are seeing a president who simply doesn't have the capability to understand the difference between the two and it's simply not staffed. By people who also have the sophistication to recognize that this is a very different audience for I mean you talked about this speech and how it was. It was going in so many different directions which begs the question who is his target audience even at the UN and more importantly what. Is he attempting to galvanize the world to actually do? What we saw unfortunately from this president was a. List of full accomplishments as well as a litany of grievances by this president speaking as if. He's talking to his enemies domestically as opposed to trying to solve the world's problems. We heard from. Antonio Gutierrez this morning recognizing the limits of superpowers and their ability to use hard power as well as their economic power. To solve many of the world's problems. And so he he understood and he laid the framework for what should be addressed. Or what to what to discuss at this assembly. President Donald Trump simply just did not get it. And clearly I think we're just. Left wanting in terms of what the United States can do particularly given the fact that Donald Trump is at the forefront of many of the problems. That the world is facing right now from a war in the Middle East to a growing and more belligerent Russia and Europe. And I think it's safe to say Eric we've heard. A lot. It's just war on Ukraine would be ending that the war with Iran would be coming to a close yet here we are. And it's worth mentioning. On Wednesday we're going to be hearing an address from the Iranian president. So it will be interesting to see what he has to say about the war. So what is the takeaway or what do you think was the intended takeaway from President Trump today? What did he want to leave that. Crowd with. Marcia? That's a very difficult question for me to answer. I don't know. We're talking about a man who actually on the at the UN General Assembly basically. Threatened to once again annihilate a civilization and a country. Typically at these events even your despots will actually. Fee in peace and we just did not even see that from President Donald Trump. So I'm not sure what today's address was about. I mean it certainly had. A hard power focus. But again as we saw from Gutierrez which I think was the point we have seen over and over the lim. Its even of the United States ability to engage in hard power. It has not stopped the war in Iran. It is not forced Canada to. Acquiesce. And even with this deal on Greenland it still has not in any way threatened or reshaped. Denmark or Greenland independence and sovereignty. Prime Minister Mark Carney is there. Do you think that he and Trump will meet? Do you think that Trump will go out of his way to speak with Carney? No I don't and we know President Donald Trump does have a meetings scheduled today. We know so it's. Unclear if and certainly I think it would have been great if these two men would speak. In fact I think it's a it's a massive loss to the. UN General Assembly that Kearney is not actually delivering an address. His new middle powers doctrine is certainly having an impact on the world. And I think it would have been great for him to be a very productive counter to what we just heard from President Donald Trump. Eric Ham forced this morning. Oh before you go I do want to ask you about changing the name. We know Trump likes to do that. So he no longer wants I use. Because he says it's not artificial but it's super intelligence. What's behind that? What does that reveal to us about his thinking around the. Race? The rest of the world where Donald Trump believes that his name or he has to shape the messaging.
