Testing 1, 2, 3. Testing 1, 2, 3. Good afternoon, Mayor Ashe, members of council. Testing 1, 2, 3. Testing 1, 2, 3. That actually sounds really good, but I'm in the dome. Okay. Testing 1, 2, 3. Testing 1, 2, 3. Testing 1, 2, 3. Testing 1, 2, 3. Testing 1, 2, 3. Testing 1, 2, 3. It's not doing the speech timer. Oh, it's because it's not lit. You are on the screens out there. And I tried to snap a photo because you were like this. And you were like, it was honed in on you, and I'm keeping my phone camera on Fatima, and it goes and cuts to her camera laughing. It was so funny. I put a little sign there because it says like that we're testing. You'll see stuff on screen. Well, I just want to test the in-camera slide because I'm thinking for our education training session we're going to have the in-camera slide up. So I don't normally do any live stream on, on education training sessions. No live stream. Right, so then just for like the door's perspective, like so that it wouldn't touch the screen in the system, but the slides still come up on the Okay, so there's nothing that goes out to the public. We just do our thing. But the screen up— the screens out there so people know that they can't come in here. That was my thought. Okay, otherwise it'll just be CP24. I don't know if someone could Okay. Yeah, I mean, we're going to have it on the agenda, that's it. Okay, yeah, that's fine. We can do that then. Oh, and you changed it for that? I did on Tuesday. Oh, that's crazy. I'm on my Tuesday. In place of the SRT meeting. No, she didn't cancel what I have. Oh, she is doing classes right now on Tuesday, but the reason she's working during these holidays— well, she took next Tuesday to be in office because she Oh right, and so that's it. This is taking those of them Far as the center for Tuesday, what year was she talking about? Is that the same challenges? Because I obviously will not be with them now next Tuesday because I have to be here for that. I have to be the middle ground Wednesday because I have to get my permit because Jason's not— he's got duties with TRPS for Remembrance Day. It takes another really early and she can't be left alone that long. So I'm not coming in on Wednesday, but on Tuesday I'm gonna have to just give up my remote day. And thanks for giving up yours. I didn't realize you did that. If you told me, I totally did not clue into that. No, I didn't tell you. I just— she kind of just came over. I think what you can say though in those things is, oh, I'm actually scheduled to be remote. But do I need to reschedule that? Like, you could do— you could do that. I think— well, I don't know about that. I mean, like, like, they don't set your work schedule. Your work schedule is set by us. As your managers, right? So I just think it's worth noting so that they have some consciousness about it. It's the same as booking an appointment. meeting without checking if the clerk's available. What the f***? Like, you know that you have to have me at a meeting. And what if Ramali wasn't here as well? Like, like, they just don't have regard for that stuff, and they need to. Okay. Yeah. Okay, so how do we want to do this? Um, do you want to sit in the shared seats? Okay. And I can— are we going to be on the screens up there? No, I'd rather not. Why don't I sit beside you? Okay, because I can access all my controls from there. Yes, I don't want to share the screens. want to do it. Yeah. Oh, you just stuck it? I just stuck it. Or whatever, and then just the pattern just sits on top. That I was thinking it might be like. I don't know, I kind of like that. So I was talking to Jocelyn this morning. She said that, um, in Ajax that they were He would always turn his mic on. So he would do his chair thing, the mic would— the camera would come in on him, and then when he was done, he'd turn it off. And then it went back to bird's eye view. They had bird's eye view. As the default. And she also said to me, if there's more than a certain number of cameras on, it goes bird's eye view. Does that work that way? So how many mics are there now on? What if you have— what if the 5th one wants to be on? Let's turn them on. I'm gonna turn mine on. I hate the color in this room. My makeup looks horrible. I look like a clown, like it's just so pronounced. This is how I really look? It can't be. No, because my nails look fine. Fluorescent. My nails are not that bright. I don't— I think the lighting is horrible, and I'm hearing a lot of feedback. Are you hearing feedback? And you know, the interesting thing about it is that when we're in here, just 2 or 3 people, you can hear things a lot clearly, but there is a definite echo here, but it's almost like when we got all the directors in here the other day, that dampened the sound. And you see how the screen is shaking? That's weird too, right? Mm-hmm. Right. So it's gotta be one of those, right, at the back. Like, why would that be shaking like that? From people walking out there? But it's definitely shaking. You can see it quiver, the bottom. You see it? See it? And you can see it here too. That's an issue. I'm not sure if there's a unit underground or like around there that vibrates. I wonder if it's just the floor moving up there. That quick? That quickly? I don't know. Maybe because it's on and off. 'Cause like sometimes it'll be super long. Now it's still going. I wonder if I could ask— I can ask Martin to see if there's any like anti-shake in those cameras. There should be, like, because I know there's stabilization. Yeah, there should definitely be that in there. But I don't know, would he know that? Isn't that an AVI-SPL thing? But like the sound in here and even me turning my head and talking is still coming through the speakers. We didn't adjust the sound levels yet. It's just so bizarre to me that the more people we got in this room, the more the sound went quiet. And particularly when Marissa was talking the other day, I like— it was really hard to hear her. Yeah. And now when I'm sitting here, it's like I feel like it's better. Like, and that's really bizarre to me that, that the other day it was so, um, so quiet. stand. Right. And it's hard for me as the recording secretary at the desk over there. I couldn't— I could barely hear. These are going to be requests this week. Can you release them? So that's 3 mics. So 4 will do that, and then a 5th one. Let me try a staff one. They don't have to request to speak. So yeah, it just taps out at the first floor, and so it just sits there, but the staff can speak, but they won't be on screen. So I just want to think about this. Logistically, why is that one still green flashing over here? Oh, because I released— so right now Marisa, Brenner, Pickles, and Cook are the 4 that are at the top, and then I released Blair at stand. And so, but they're at the bottom, like 5 and 6. Which one is that? That's not what Blair said. Blair said here. So this would— that would be— so he's on. He's— that would be Naggy. Yeah, Naggy's still on the request. speak. Can you release her? So when you release her, who does she bump out? She didn't bump anyone out, so it's still Marisa, Pickles, Cook, and Blair who are the first 4 that were released. But then I put on this staff over here, they can talk. And I can talk over here, but I'm not— it doesn't feel that you can. So, so I'm kind of wondering if we shouldn't go have it after— if we have another default that if you have more than 4 mics on, it goes bird's eye view. I'm pretty sure The chair's mic on for a minute. Order, order. Yeah, he doesn't even take precedent. Yeah. So I think we should— I think Martin shouldn't enable that setting that if you have more than 4 mics on, you're going bird's eye view, don't you think? I think so, because if you get into like a— like, I know he has to release them, but if you had a bunch of staff mics on I don't know. I guess it would be just, yeah, if people aren't turning their mics off. Yeah, and we'll look for that, but, but I think we have to be really careful with it, right? Yeah, we can't be, you know, turning them off and you never know if they want to speak again, right? So yeah, I think we should ask him about that, doing a default so that it's, um, so that it will do that. It'll bump, it'll It'll go bird's-eye view, and then— and he's gonna have to— here's the other thing, you know, when Marissa's sitting here, the camera angles are weird when the screen changes because now it's like, it's, it's because she's got the whole side, her top is cut off. Right? And, and like, I don't understand why it's not a little more intuitive. I think art can change that. Could you ask him? it's a bit weird. And notice when I set, I set out the camera angles the best I could for the video. But, uh, we're going to choose a different camera from the Then you have no control. Well, I can control them. No, I don't want you doing that either. Because even here, when I'm— so this is Linda's angle. Obviously it's that camera right there that's getting me because it's getting the door. Right? Oh, on the TV. And the same for Pickles. Is that who's getting that camera as well? Same one? How come, how come he's on screen but his mic's not there? How did you do that? Oh, that's a chair. But he doesn't— but his mic doesn't come on. It's not red. No, this is cooked. Oh, sorry, Pickles is there. Yeah, you're right. Sorry. Okay. That'd be a fun little weapon. Get some really good comments coming from there. Yeah, like, I kind of like this bird's-eye view, like, idea because when you get that many people on screen, I think we need to do— I think we're going to need to pan. Because it's just, you never know. So I asked him to do that default. And then, um, the whole thing with the chair is just a camera setting. If the chair decides he doesn't want to be front and center, then we can make the cam— the back view his view, correct? Or even a little bit wider. It doesn't have to be the whole thing. Okay, we'll play that right here. Okay. Is she— did she ever start to? She's going to. That's what he's emailing her about, what he called a counselor. Okay, let's, let's go. Let's do a little bit of a run-through here. Okay, so, uh, Council. And then here's the chair. Calling this meeting to order. Madam Clerk, could you do the roll call, please? Yes, I certify that everyone is participating. So the delay, the interesting thing about that is that you— I won't even be on screen. Because of how delayed it is. Well, it did it now, but it didn't the first time you did it. Yeah, and I was actually seeing that in a lot of the other videos. Yeah, it's a bit of a delay. Okay, actually there was one I think because someone— yeah, someone was doing the roll call. Yeah. And they make them say present. Yeah. And when each member was starting to press, they said present. Then clicked it off, it would go— it would start to transition, then go back. Right. It wasn't fully transitioning. Right. So, okay. But I saw what the region does. They actually program their roll call as a vote. Do they do? Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. But they have 27 members. That makes sense. It's a lot, and they're— and most of them are remote. So they have a hard time keeping track on who's there and when they take a break and stuff. So, okay. Okay, so, uh, and then he calls it to order, and now we're moving on to business. Uh, yeah, O Canada, which I won't do. Oh, we're doing council. Okay, we're gonna, you know, stand if you can for O Canada. And then they sit back down and he does land acknowledgment, then moment of reflection. And then land acknowledgment. And, uh, okay, and now we're doing decks of interest. That's right. And okay, seeing none. Uh, we're gonna do adoption of the minutes. Can I have a mover and seconder? I think I just, uh, oh, this is the one we had last time, so okay, like an in-camera session in the middle of it. Okay, so first item is an in-camera item. We're gonna make— have a motion to go into camera. Can I get a mover and seconder? Moved by Councillor Brenner, seconded by Councillor Nagy, to move in closed session. All those in favor? Okay. Thank you, Madam Clerk. We're going into closed session. Why are these here? Like, what's the point of that? So if there was a For the staff member that we want to know what's coming, I guess was my thought. Or we could just quickly assign them. You could, you could, yeah, you can click Okay, so we're back in open session. Give the public report in camera. We heard confidential report LED blah blah blah, and council— the sound is very very different. And council. adopted the following recommendation. Madam Clerk, could you please put that recommendation on the screen? You don't have to do that. So then you share your screen. Right, that's— see, see how much shaking, Eddie? That was a lot. I feel like it's when you walk. Well, it's that camera. Actually, I'll keep it here. It's so shaky. I think it's in the lobby. Yeah. Oh God. Okay. I really feel like it's something about structurally out there, the floor. And the movement of the floor. Like, that's not good. No. I think I have to fight that with API. Yeah. Like, there's got to be some sort of energy shape. You would think so. There's a lot of people. Right. Maybe they can do something to tweak that. Okay. Another problem to flag. Okay, so moving on with our public session, we have just one delegate today, and Mr. Ms. Janine Public, are you, are you ready to delegate? So that would start them. So she's remote. No, she's in person. Okay, so she's gonna go— yeah, let's just go person. And I have one delegate today and they are in person, and that's, uh, Janine Curry. Ms. Curry, if you could please come to the podium. You have 5 minutes for your delegation. Martin set something up for us that took speech damage at home. Oh, perfect. So as soon as they turn on their phone, their, their microphone. Yeah, so once they— this agenda item is saved. Yes. This item, it'll trigger to start automatically, so I don't have to do that. But it's connected to turning on the microphone. That's right. So I'll request to speak. But then it'll start my timer automatically. Or not. And I'll— I wonder if it's because— is it orange? Orange. So it's on. That means speech timers are on, but that means maybe I didn't— oh, I'm spare 1, and that means I don't think I have speech timers enabled for that. I would have that set for the individual. What about for the group? They can have 10 start out asking, and he said that as well. Oh, good. Yeah. And then what happens if they extend somebody 2 minutes? Is that manual? Um, when I do the record in the training session, I'd like to Because I think it's like, I just think it's gonna be like I'm gonna be telling them what's gonna be happening, but I think there's maybe gonna be a need for you to maybe do something on the screens or chime in. So I think we should just work that out. We'll go through that, you and I, together. Yeah. Yeah, we should. And just like, yeah. Yeah, it's unfortunate we can't show this. On screen. Because when we're talking about— I'm like, when you hit your button, the mayor gets— I'm just gonna have to say it. The chair, the chair is going to get a request to speak and has to release it. Martin was zooming in on this because he was working remote. Last Friday, but he's zooming in. On one of these cameras. Oh, to go look at that. So you could probably just try to display that. Oh, I see. So camera 1 or something would be— would do that. Yeah. Well, leave that with me. That might be a way to just show what the mayor shows. Okay. Yeah, I don't know that we have to, you know, I think there can be a part where, you know, when we go through the meeting we just like, you know, like, I think we're gonna call the meeting to order. You know, this is what you're gonna see on the screen. He's gonna call Call the meeting to order. He's gonna ask for, uh, uh, we'll go through, like, he'll— he's, he's gonna, uh, we're gonna stamp out Canada. Like, I don't know, like, you know what I'm saying? Like, we're gonna— we can go through that kind of an agenda. I think. But I also think we need to think about just walking them through what the mayor is going to see. So it's not automatic. When you hit your button on the microphone, it's going to be green. Like, those are the kinds of things they need to know. The mayor sees you on his touch panel and has to release you to speak. Your microphone won't work until the mayor says done that. When your microphone's red, your microphone's on. So think red hot. Hot mic. Right? Like, I want to try to get that ingrained in their head. Make sure when you're done that you're turning off your Yeah, I mean, we could say to them, like, like, the chair will have a debate ability to assign a 5-minute debate timer. Right? Yeah. Yes. Can you turn my mics on? Okay, so let's just stop that. No, I don't, I don't get to work from home. Well, that's why I made the comment I did about losing the comfort of your office. Well, anything to have a stash in my office. Okay, so let's just practice with the delegation then. So delegation. Right, let's just go back to that. I just want to see how that works. Like, is it like automatic? But Leo wants that when she's asking questions. No, sorry, this is— I was just making sure the time was restored. So the way it's set now is that there's a 5-minute timer set for each individual jump. But timers are not activated until he wants to. So he wants to introduce them to the subject, they're talking about it, and then he said, okay, I'm going to activate And then people raise their hands and now I think it's the full Yeah, that's right, because each others are so huge. Okay, so again, that's another thing for us to train. I think what I need to do is have it broken down into, um, like notes about what the chair— the chair overview and the council overview, because it's very different. Their participation is completely different, and they're, they're all going to get a chance to do the chair. Because of their rotation with executive committee. Right. So yeah. But exec is always rotated. Right, so they're all— all everybody for exec is going to be rotating through. And then, um, planning and development is just the deputy mayor, so they'll get quite accustomed to it, but they'll be out of the rotation for exec. So, okay. Okay, so then you have delegation up here. Okay, so maybe a sphere 1 here. So let me introduce them. Good. And then when they're ready to speak, they're going to request to speak. And you already speak. Hello, I would like to speak to this controversial development. Hmm? Start counting down. You shouldn't have to. But I'm wondering if it held. This timer settings from the last time. Like if we stopped another member. It shouldn't have done that though. Okay. You should not have to do that. We can test. We can test the next agenda item. Let me see. And so we have So that— when that delegate's done, if they only talk for a minute, when they turn their mic on and answer questions Again, the timer will pick back up again. It would pick back up. So that's going to be tricky because then you're going to get that— you have 30 seconds left. As it runs out. So I think it's the operator after initial statement to turn it off. Right. And we don't want them answering questions and then, oh, you have 30 seconds left. Yeah, so that's another note for, for you guys. And then This is too low. Let's just get better. Keep the pizza up. Complex. Unnecessary. Check out the cell. Okay, okay, so let's see that one. We went to— it must have held from the last one because we were the new agenda item. It should automatically start. So. Keep talking, Danny, so we can have a conversation. What are your answers to that? I'm going to Sarnia. Yes, I'm going just to visit my grandma. I was gonna go tonight, but I'm not gonna be able to make it, so I'll make it tomorrow. I'm gonna get up early, might stop at Costco in London and grab some goodies, and then head to, uh, hit up the 402 for a fun drive. Is it part of the London site? No, it's just an hour. It's on the— so yeah, you take the 402 from London to Sarnia and you're there, so. It's really hard to hear you. Really? I can tell the sounds in the gallery. Wait, I don't even think you're hearing the gallery. You're just hearing the voice. Maybe you're hearing their voice reflect off the dome. I can hear myself perfectly. I hear it coming back at me. Like, it feels very— I guess I'm right at the bottom. Bottom of the dome, which is probably why. Can you hear me if I shout this way? Yeah, it's not as crisp. Yeah, as you'd expect it to be. Right. Yeah, so tell me again about what you're gonna stop at Costco. Tell me that again. I'm gonna stop at Costco and probably look for a banana toffee cake. I can't find that. Nice. Can you— can you hear me okay? It's like muffled. You're also leaning up towards your mic, so I am. So if I sat back here, is that— that's probably worse, right? Oh, I could hear that your mic— now that your mic is on, I can hear you. You can hear me okay? Yeah, because I feel like, I feel like we should reverse seats for a minute. Yeah, and I want you to hear what I hear. I don't need my hearing aids on. But if it is, I won't be the only one. I can tell you that I don't love the surface and the fingerprints that show on this stuff. You're right, it does, uh, it does show a bit of everything. Yeah, so I actually can hear you better from that perspective. And I heard— I can hear you there, but I couldn't— you kind of do have to look at their lips almost. Well, and you can look at the screen because they are in front of you, which is the one good thing about it. But to my point, it sounds so distant from right over here. That's right, it doesn't show. So I hear you better from here. Right, then you can hear me. Right, right. Now keep talking. Let's see what it— so I'm, I don't, I'm not going anywhere this weekend, although, uh, we're going out for dinner tonight with some friends. And, um, my daughter's still looking to wait for the insurance to get back to her about her car. Before we can decide, know how much money we're going to get from them so that we can try to find her another one. And we're not on screen in the lobby, correct? Okay. So how is it sounding when I'm— it sounds good, but I'm gonna come closer. Well, yeah, so that's the thing, right? Yeah, it sounds fine. Yeah, I'm like, I just don't— I know this is gonna be like— I just don't want people pointing fingers at us that the sound's not good. This is Because you saw what happened when we were in here the other day with the directors, right? And it's like, sounds not good, and they're already looking at us. I can't fix that. I can't fix the space. I can't— where are the sound acoustic people that were part of the process? Ask them for the report because I don't, I don't know why it is how it is, but it's not great. Well, I just expect a little bit more from the delegates. Right, and that's the— and I'm not sure why they're so low. That was a bit higher. I don't see why. I'm just gonna double-check if it's up here. I think there are things that maybe— oh, the delegates are So my German dog is too old. Say something now. So anyways, yeah, like I was saying, we're gonna, um, Victoria's— we gotta wait and see how much the insurance is gonna give us so that we can determine. No. Right. Yeah, so I think that, like, again, I know what you're saying. You hear— I feel like here you're in that spot like we were in the horseshoe. Yeah, you hear that? you hear everything around you. So it's not going to be an issue for the delegate to hear from people up here. Put your mic on and try. You're gonna have to get a request to speak. Oh, Susan. Um. Have you heard back from insurance yet? No, last week they were towing the car away. Oh, okay. So, and they— we were gonna take it to a body shop and they said no, we're taking it to our assessment center because we think this car is a write-off. We've seen the pictures. Right. So they're going to take it there and determine, and, and then once they do that, then they will give us the value. But they don't do black book value anymore. Oh, what do they do? They actually do comparables. So my husband's already gone on to CarGurus and AutoTrader to find comparables with similar kilometers, right? And it's like It's at the low end $4,000, at the high end $6,500. So we're hoping somewhere in the middle. If they can give us $5,000 for it, then that would be great. Yeah. And then we can apply that to something else for her. But either way, we're going to be out of pocket getting another car because I can't— I need to get her something fairly reliable, right? Yeah, and $5,000 doesn't go far in the used car market anymore. It doesn't. I don't— I— so I— so when, when we're talking back and forth, it is more challenging for me to hear you from there, right? Because I don't have any delegation, um, speakers on because my microphone's on. Oh yeah, right. So I'm only hearing you from the room noise and the other speakers, which I assume would include the gallery speakers as well. Yeah, right. So if I turn off Yeah, you'd probably be able to hear me a lot better. Yeah, right. And plus, I'm kind of like boxed in here, so the sound's gonna revert back at me. Yeah. Do you, uh, Yeah, it does. I want to count it down. I want to hear that thing again. Do you think we should have that, um, lowered and with the chair there by default? Or do you want people standing? Do you have a preference of what the standard setup would be? Um, I kind of prefer standing, to be honest. Yeah, I saw a mix of both in the videos that I saw. Like, some people have like these weird tables and the middle, they just sit up, or like— I, I kind of prefer somebody standing to give their delegate. Like, I kind of wanted when we did the orientation for, for the director to stand here and present, and they're presenting from their seats. Which I think is fine for them, but I'm thinking more like, um, I saw Shawna, Jason, like the other auxiliary staff. Where are they gonna present from? Because if it's from back there, they'll have to come here. They're gonna have to go there, right? So if they don't have a seat, they're gonna have to come here. So the only thing is, Andy, is that if you do that, you're gonna have to push that chair right in, and people are gonna stand behind the chair. That's what the weird thing was. It's either they pull it out of the way or they push it in, and you don't really want to pull it out of the way because that would be weird, right? So you almost have to leave the chair there, but then people can trip over the, the thing. So if you do put it off to the side. It can go there, but I mean, that's not fabulous unless you just push it there so that people can sit down if they want and just leave it there. I mean, you don't see that The one good thing is that on the livestream, you're going to see the front of my face as a delegate. You're not seeing the back side, right? Right. Unless you go out to a room. And if, if I go out, if I turn off my mic, you will. But I want to let the countdown go because as soon as I turn off my mic, you get room view again. Well, actually, you'll get you alone. And then when you turn off your mic, you get room view. for a minute, and then you see the back of that person standing there, which isn't great. No. But it is what it is. There's a lot of wires under here too. I know, and I hate how the table doesn't go all the way to the back. Like, there's that huge gap at the back of Right, this is an HDMI cable. Yeah, so the setup does allow No. No, we're not using it. I just don't want the cord dangling underneath. We'll just leave it there like that for now. But see how this like— yeah, the gap that's there, it's kind of questionable why they did that, eh? I guess it's because of those pipes and stuff that are I just don't know why the legs go out so much. Yeah, it's, it's long. Well, the legs are out because of the, because of the pipe, which is weird because like it's only this much away from the wall, but then this is so much— yeah, so this is not the same length as those legs at the bottom, right? No, it's not. 30 seconds remaining. Where does that sound come from? Because it's crystal clear. It doesn't exist, right? Right, like, where, where is that coming out of? That is really clear. It does have a roof on it. It does, but it's been spouting a bit. What we've seen so far would look nice. It needs to be dusted and soundproofed. Now, I'm speaking. Agree. Okay, well, you know what? I think we're at the point now of like tweaking, right? I mean, my role is not going to change except for recording votes. I'm going to start and stop a vote.
